Upon completing my initial Applied Digital Learning (ADL) classes, I understand that self-assessment is very important to evaluate performance and be able to make the necessary adjustments. As I reflected on my experience with each course, 5302: Concept of Educational Tech and 5305: Disruptive Innovation in Technology, I assigned myself a grade that is consistent with the contributions of myself as well as those of the collaborative group.
The courses taken together gave me the opportunity to develop my innovation plan in 5305 and explore technology while fostering a growing mindset and creating my ePortfolio in 5302. By focusing on course readings and videos, assignments, and attending class meetings I was able to find the balance between the two courses. The opportunity for creativity with my ePortfolio in 5302 allowed me to discover new skills and resources that I had never used before. Also when designing my innovation plan in 5305 I was able to delve deeper into what Blended Learning is and its implementation in different educational areas.
To keep everything in order, I set up a schedule for both classes. This helped me stay organized and be able to accomplish everything. I also responded to my peers' discussions with her, whether by offering feedback, new resources, or follow-up questions. I plan to continue establishing a calendar to ensure success in future courses.
After evaluating everything, I recognize that there are areas where I could have done a better job. In class 5305 I would have looked for more resources. Asking more questions during class meetings could have been beneficial. In the future, I will work on improving my consistency when citing APA resources and writing class assignments.
The importance of actively contributing to a group or collaborative team is a valuable lesson I have learned throughout my life. By joining forces and collaborating with other ideas we expand our knowledge, we share ideas, but we also share frustrations to help each other be better. Each member contributes their point of view, thus helping in the final results. My collaborative group was an essential piece during these classes. Each member of the group provided ideas, different teaching philosophies, and different professional and personal experiences. As a group, we created a WhatsApp chat and a calendar to schedule Zoom meetings and keep tasks in order. During our communication I actively participated as we reported on assignments or class meetings, exchanged ideas, or discussed upcoming deadlines. I provided ideas for the assignments and clarified doubts of other classmates, just as they also clarified my doubts about both classes. I consistently initiated communication with my group to offer constructive feedback on assignments before and after reviews for both courses.
My collaborative group for both classes includes the following students:
After careful consideration, I would rate myself a 40 out of 50 at 5305 and 90 out of 100 for 5302. I assign these grades primarily based on my commitment to taking ownership of my learning. Throughout both courses, I reviewed assignments, actively contributed to my collaborative group peers, and focused on supporting my colleagues. All my work was submitted on time and I attended almost all scheduled Zoom classes on Mondays at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. along with my team.
The most frequent weakness in my rubric is related to the APA format and some spelling errors.
