Instructional Design

After watching the videos, instructional design is about having students work together to generate ideas and learning plans. Several things are mentioned that lead to effective learning, how to measure learning, and helping students deepen their understanding of concepts. It also shows us how to make sure what students do, what they are tested on, and what they are supposed to learn. All of this helps us create a meaningful learning experience.

Points as you explore how you will design your online or blended course:

Ensuring the success of participants in an online course requires careful attention to professional development and quality standards. Here are several key aspects to include:

Clear learning objectives must be created. You must create attractive and relevant content for the needs of the students. Organize course content in a structured way, with clear modules, units, or lessons. All materials must be accessible. Encourage opportunities for participants to collaborate with their peers through discussion forums, group projects, or virtual meetings. Implement regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to participants on their progress. By incorporating these quality standards and professional development into an online course, you can create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes participant success.

Referring to Bates' findings and drawing from my personal experience, I firmly believe that effective knowledge management is the cornerstone of success in today's knowledge-based society. By employing a variety of strategies such as information collection, digital organization, critical reflection, and knowledge sharing, I continuously strive to harness the power of information for personal and collective growth.

To assist learners in managing their knowledge effectively, I will help them organize information, connect ideas, reflect on what they know, and share their insights with others. I'll lead by example,

demonstrating these practices myself and providing concrete examples of how they can be applied in various contexts. Moreover, I'll encourage collaborative work and emphasize the importance of sharing knowledge not only for personal growth but also for the benefit of the broader learning community. I'll offer constructive feedback to learners, guiding them in refining their knowledge management skills and creating opportunities for self-reflection to deepen their understanding of effective knowledge management strategies.

Design Assignment Considerations:

  • What are your subject, level of instruction, and intended audience?

The topic must be provided clearly and by the target audience. In my case, it is aimed at elementary school students interested in the STEM program.

  • What are the key institutional documents (i.e. syllabus, outline, accreditation standards, etc.) that will influence your design process?

Seek institutional resources that will help shape our course design process. In my case, I will use the standards of the classes that comprise the STEM program.

  • What design approach have chosen?

Clearly explain the chosen design approach. In this case, the focus will be on the teaching and integration of technology into the program since this will make the program more attractive to students.

  • Who controls the learning?

Share who controls the learning process and how it will work. The teacher will play the role of facilitator in it.

  • Are you using competency-based education (CBE) or outcome-based education (OBE)?

The focus or where the course or class is directed must be clearly stated. In this case, Outcome-Based Education (OBE) will be used.

  • How will you balance assessment Or/For/As learning?

Students will be evaluated with formative and summative work as required by the school. They will also participate in projects.

  • Are you moving your learners into deeper learning?

To know if the student is acquiring deep learning, he or she will demonstrate superior abilities to meet the expectations of the program or course.
