In an era defined by technological advancements and innovation, fostering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in elementary schools is more critical than ever. This action research project focuses on integrating makerspaces into fifth-grade classrooms to enhance STEM learning. Makerspaces, which are collaborative workspaces equipped with tools and materials for hands-on projects, provide an engaging environment where students can explore, create, and solve problems.

The primary goal of this research is to investigate how the use of makerspaces can improve student engagement, creativity, and understanding of STEM concepts. By offering students opportunities to work on real-world projects, makerspaces encourage experiential learning and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study will address the challenges of implementing makerspaces, such as resource allocation and teacher training, while highlighting their potential to transform STEM education. The findings will offer insights into effective practices for integrating makerspaces into the elementary curriculum, ultimately aiming to better prepare students for future academic and career opportunities in STEM fields.
